Severn River Association 2012 Annual Meeting

The Severn River Association will hold its 101st Annual Meeting at the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center, 975 Indian Landing Rd. Millersville, MD 21108 (MAP) on Tuesday, June 19 at 6:30 pm.

The guest speaker for the meeting is Richard Klein, founder & president of Community & Environmental Defense Services. Richard began his love of the Severn River in the 1960s when he fished her waters and then in the 1970’s monitored fish populations and water quality while working for DNR.

In the 1980’s as Director of Save our Streams, he developed restoration techniques in the Severn watershed that were adopted nationwide. He will present the findings of the Severn Watershed Audit and describe the program initiated this year with SRA using citizen volunteers to evaluate construction sites and stormwater management systems.

A brief business meeting will precede the program with election of Board Members and SRA Blue and Green Heron Awards. Food is to be catered by A Cook’s Café with brief comments by Craig Sewell Owner/Chef on “Buy Local Eat Local.”
