Sparrows Point Channel Navigational Aids Renaming

The U.S. Coast Guard 5th District is soliciting comments on renaming the aids to navigation marking Sparrows Point Channel. The agency is proposing to remove the words “Steel Works” from the aids name in order to be consistent with the nautical chart and the geographic area surrounding Sparrow Point.

The following aids would be renamed as follows:

Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Range Front Light to Sparrows Point Channel Range Front Light
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Range Rear Light to Sparrows Point Channel Range Rear Light
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Lighted Junction Buoy SP to Sparrows Point Channel Lighted Junction Buoy SP
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 2 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 2
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 3 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 3
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 4 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 4
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 6 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 6
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 7 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 7
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 8 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 8
Sparrows Point Steel Works Channel Buoy 10 to Sparrows Point Channel Buoy 10

All comments will be carefully considered and are requested prior February 27, 2017 to be considered in the analysis. Refer to project number
