Virginia Flood Mitigation Grants

Several Virginia communities will benefit from $5.4 million in federal flooding mitigation grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Grants will be used to elevate or demolish residential properties in flood-prone areas of Virginia.

Virginia Flooding Mitigation Grant Recipients:

Hampton will receive $2,516,700 for the elevation of seven flood-prone properties.

Chesapeake will receive $1.19 million for the acquisition and demolition of five properties.

Norfolk will receive $1.28 million for the elevation of six properties.

the Northern Neck Planning District Commission (Northumberland and Richmond counties) will get $407,325 for the elevation of two flood-prone properties.

The FEMA flooding mitigation grant program is administered locally by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.
