Maryland Tree Planting Programs

Several programs in Maryland are offering native trees and shrubs.

Tree-Mendous Maryland

Tree-Mendous Maryland, a program of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service, is now accepting spring orders. The program offers high-quality, native trees and shrubs available at discounted prices for plantings on public lands.

Tree-Mendous trees and shrubs will be available for pick-up starting in mid-March for planting on any public lands in Maryland, such as community open spaces, school grounds, government facilities and rights-of-way.

Maryland Green Schools receive a one-to-one match on orders up to 20 trees. Purchasers should make sure they receive permission to plant from the facility or land managers before ordering trees.

Marylanders Plant Trees

Another Forest Service program, Marylanders Plant Trees, offers $25 coupons for use at participating nurseries toward the purchase of native trees for planting on private lands. Those who plant and register can observe the environmental benefits of their tree through interactive maps and charts and will be eligible for prizes.

Gift of Trees

DNR reminds Marylanders that the Gift of Trees program, which plants native trees in honor or memory of family and friends, is a great way to celebrate holidays or birthdays, or observe other special occasions.
